The Midland County Democratic Party (MCDP) is a grassroots community organization of committed citizens dedicated to supporting Democratic Party efforts within Midland County, the State of Michigan, and the United States of America.  Our primary mission is to support qualified local candidates.

New members and community supporters are always welcome!

Our monthly meetings take place on the third Wednesday at 7:00 pm, in the Commissioner Room located on the first floor of the Midland County Administration Building, 220 W Ellsworth St, Midland, MI 48640.

We do not meet in August or in December.

Our guest speaker for the July meeting will be Chloe Updegraff, MPH, Great Lakes Bay Region Census Hub Coordinator.

Updegraff is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Public Health, where she received her Master’s Degree in Public Health.

Chloe has experience working in diverse communities, from rural Haiti to Tribal populations in Michigan, with the goal of improving health and wellbeing among community members.

The United States Census Bureau counts each resident of the country every ten years.

As the newly appointed Census Hub Coordinator for the Great Lakes Bay Region, Chloe will be working to ensure the region gets an accurate count in the upcoming 2020 census.

For the 2020 Census, working with local non-profits, community organizations, and local government officials will be extremely important, as regional and local Census offices are being reduced by 50%.

Additionally, door-to-door outreach will be scaled back in favor of an online-first model (which could hinder the response rate of lower-income populations or those who have limited access to the internet).

There is also the potential of a citizenship status question which could prevent immigrant populations from feeling comfortable taking part in the Census.

Chloe will be working closely with local organizations by providing support, training, partnership, and funding to assure an accurate count of the region (especially in hard-to-count populations), as well as giving an important voice to each resident of the Great Lakes Bay area.

For more details, Census Hub Coordinator Chloe Updegraff can be reached at 989-695-6100 ext 3 or [email protected].

These meetings are FREE and open to the general public.  Bring your questions, comments, new ideas and a friend or two!

Discussion starts at 6:30 PM. The monthly meeting starts at 7 PM in the Commissioner Room at the Midland County Bldg, 220 Ellsworth, Midland MI 48640.
